What is Provoking the Age of Rage?

No doubt, many of us don't feel comfortable being around with people who are always angry, or those who cannot control their rage. Perhaps, we keep asking, Why are these people so angry? Sometimes, we don't see any reason why they are that angry or wrathful.

Does God Listen to All Prayers?

God invites people of all nations to draw close to him in prayer.

"O Hearer of prayer, even to you people of all flesh will come."

(Psalm 65:2)

However, he does not listen to all prayers. For instance, when the Israelites persisted in badness, God refused to hear their prayers.

"Where else will YOU be struck still more, in that YOU add more revolt? The whole head is in a sick condition, and the whole heart is feeble."  (Isaiah 1:5)

The prayers of a man who mistreats his wife can be hindered too. 

"YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered."   (1 Peter 3:7)

But God will hear the prayers of gross sinners if they are truly repentant.

"And Ma‧nas′seh kept seducing Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do worse than the nations that Jehovah had annihilated from before the sons of Israel.

And Jehovah kept speaking to Ma‧nas′seh and his people, but they paid no attention. Finally Jehovah brought against them the chiefs of the army that belonged to the king of As‧syr′i‧a, and so they captured Ma‧nas′seh in the hollows and bound him with two fetters of copper and took him to Babylon. And as soon as it caused him distress, he softened the face of Jehovah his God and kept humbling himself greatly because of the God of his forefathers. And he kept praying to Him, so that He let himself be entreated by him and He heard his request for favor and restored him to Jerusalem to his kingship; and Ma‧nas′seh came to know that Jehovah is the [true] God."  (2 Chronicles 33:9-13)

Do Humans Become Angels When They Die?

Some people take comfort in their belief that when their loved ones die, they become angels. Some religious leaders also try to comfort parents who have lost their baby with these words, “God wanted another angel, and He took your little baby to be with him. Now her soul flutters around the Almighty’s throne.”

Questions like the following might arise:

Are such words truly comforting or they only make people blame God and take away their faith in him?

LEARN FROM GOD'S WORD: Why Learn From God?

1. Why learn from God?

God has good news of something better for mankind. He tells us about it in the pages of the Bible. The Bible is like a letter to us from our loving Father.

“‘For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward YOU,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give YOU a future and a hope. " (Jeremiah 29:11)

2. What is the good news?

Mankind needs good government. No human ruler has ever relieved mankind of violence, injustice, disease, or death. But there is good news. God will give mankind a good government that will bring freedom from all causes of suffering.

“And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite." (Daniel 2:44)

3. Why is it vital to learn from God?

Soon God will clear the earth of people who cause suffering. Meanwhile, he is teaching millions of meek people to enjoy a better way of life, based on love. From God's Word, people are learning how to cope with life's problems, how to find real happiness, and how to please God.

"Seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovah’s anger. " (Zephaniah 2:3)

4. Who is the Author of the Bible?

Some 40 men wrote the 66 books of the Bible, but they wrote God's thoughts and not their own. So God is the Author of the Bible.

We know that the Bible is from God because it accurately foretells the future in details. It also bears the unmistakable stamp of God's loving personality. It has the power to change people's lives for the better.

“Now, look! I am going today in the way of all the earth, and YOU well know with all YOUR hearts and with all YOUR souls that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has failed. They have all come true for YOU. Not one word of them has failed." (Joshua 23:14)

"Indeed, that is why we also thank God incessantly, because when YOU received God’s word, which YOU heard from us, YOU accepted it, not as the word of men, but, just as it truthfully is, as the word of God, which is also at work in YOU believers." (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

5. How can you understand the Bible?

Jesus helped people understand the Bible by referring to one Bible text after another and explaining "the meaning of Scriptures."

"And commencing at Moses and all the Prophets he interpreted to them things pertaining to himself in all the Scriptures....Then he opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures." (Luke 24:27,45)

* How can I find genuine peace?

Isaiah 48:17,18

"This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: "I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit yourself,  the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. O if only you would actually pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like the river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea."

 

* Will evil always exist?

Proverbs 2:21,22

"The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut from the earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."

* Will there be an end to sickness and suffering?

Revelation 21:3,4

"Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things (today's many problems) have passed away.

These are the assurances of God, who can never lie. (Titus 1:2) Our response to his promises reveals whether we have faith in him. Hebrews 11:1 says: "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld." 

Why Read the Bible

Some people think that the Bible is just like all other ancient books that are being treasured as literary masterpieces. True, the Bible is a very old book, but unlike other books that are esteemed for their literary values, the Bible has retained its power to touch lives through the ages. Hence, the Bible is a living book. This is not surprising because countless evidences prove that it is the Word of God, which God himself imparted to men who put it down in writing for the benefit of mankind's generations that are yet to come.

There are so many reasons why we should read the Bible, but I will only mention four of them by quoting the Bible itself.

Hebrews 4:12

"For the word of God is alive and exerts power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart."

2 Timothy 3:16,17

"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."

Romans 15:4

"For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope."

John 17:3

"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."

These are what God's Word can do for us personally. We can see how beneficial it is for us, not only now but also throughout eternity.

If we think that the Bible is not reliable, or that it's not really God's Word, it only shows that we haven't really read the entire Bible yet and that we haven't carefully examined it yet in conjunction with world events and scientific facts. And this is one more reason why we should read the Bible.

Those who have read it and followed its teachings have experienced remarkable changes in their lives and their outlook regarding world condition and the future. They have been experiencing true happiness and satisfaction, along with a bright hope that keeps them energized as they move on their journey into the new world which the Almighty himself has prepared for righteous mankind.
