Should You Fear the End of the World?

Will the earth be burned up?

"He (God) has founded the earth upon its established places;  it will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever." - Psalm 104:5

"But by the same word the heavens and the earth that are now are stored up for fire and are being reserved to the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly men." - 2 Peter 3:7

How can these two seemingly contradictory verses be reconciled?

What happens at the end of the world?

"The world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever." - 1 John 2:17

What is the world that is passing away? What is the will of God, and in what sense will one remain forever?

Is the end of the world really near?

"When you see these things occuring, know that the Kingdom of God is near." - Luke 21:31

What Will God's Kingdom Accomplish?

Here's a prophecy whose fulfillment will affect the whole world and each human being.

"And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite."
